Significance of Karma Parv

Karma Parv is rooted in agrarian traditions and nature worship. The word Karam comes from the sacred Karam tree (Nauclea Parvifolia), which symbolizes fertility, prosperity, and life. The festival is a prayer for:

  • Good harvests

  • Family well-being

  • Protection from misfortune

It reflects the deep connection of tribal communities with forests and agriculture.

Rituals and Celebrations

  • Karam Tree Branch Ritual: A branch of the sacred Karam tree is brought to the village and placed in the courtyard, symbolizing blessings from nature.

  • Songs & Dances: Traditional folk songs and dances are performed around the Karam branch, especially by young men and women.

  • Offerings: Grains, fruits, and local delicacies are offered to Karam Devta.

  • Nightlong Festivities: The celebrations often continue with drum beats, cultural performances, and storytelling.
