Built in the 16th century by the brothers Virupanna and Viranna, this temple is dedicated to Veerabhadra Swamy (an incarnation of Lord Shiva). It is also home to beautiful shrines of Lord Vishnu, Parvati, and other deities.

Mythological Significance – Believed to be the place where the wounded bird Jatayu fell while trying to rescue Sita from Ravana, hence the name “Lepakshi” (meaning “Rise, O Bird”).

Photography is generally allowed, but check with temple authorities before taking pictures inside.

October to February (Winter Season): Pleasant weather, perfect for sightseeing.
Avoid visiting during peak summer (March–June) as Anantapur gets very hot.
