TTD Board Approves Major Devotee Welfare Decisions: Donor Rules Revised, SSD Shelters, Vontimitta Rest House & 791 Veda Scholars

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board has approved a series of important decisions aimed at enhancing pilgrim facilities, strengthening Vedic traditions, improving donor transparency, and expanding infrastructure at major temples under TTD administration.

The decisions were announced after the latest TTD Board Meeting chaired by TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, along with TTD Executive Officer Muddada Ravichandra, at Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala. Most of the resolutions focus on improving the overall experience of millions of devotees visiting Tirumala and other TTD-managed temples. 

Key Highlights of the TTD Board Meeting

1. Major Changes to TTD Donor Privileges from July 15, 2026

One of the biggest announcements is the revision of privileges offered to donors contributing to various TTD trusts and schemes.

According to TTD:

  • The revised donor policy aims to bring greater transparency, uniformity, and better management of donations.

  • The new donor rules take effect from midnight of July 14/July 15, 2026.

  • Existing donors who have already contributed under previous schemes will continue to enjoy their current benefits without any changes.

  • The revised policy will apply primarily to **new donations made after the implementation date.  

2. New SSD Shelters, Queue Lines & Toilets Approved

To improve the experience for Slotted Sarva Darshan (SSD) pilgrims, the Board approved:

  • Permanent waiting shelters

  • Dedicated queue lines

  • Additional toilet facilities

  • Development works near Alwar Tank in Tirumala

The project has been approved at an estimated cost of ₹6.31 crore, helping devotees wait more comfortably during peak seasons. 

3. 100-Room Pilgrim Rest House Coming Up at Vontimitta

The Board sanctioned the construction of a 100-room pilgrims' rest house at the famous Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple, Vontimitta in Kadapa district.

Project Highlights

  • Estimated Cost: ₹17.84 crore

  • Designed to improve accommodation for pilgrims visiting the historic temple.

  • Additional funds have also been approved for:

    • Road widening

    • Pilgrim amenities

    • Land acquisition around the temple.  

4. TTD to Appoint 791 Prospective Veda Scholars

In a major initiative to preserve India's Vedic heritage, the Board approved the appointment of:

791 Prospective Veda Scholars

under the TTD Veda Parayana Scheme.

The scholars will support continuous recitation of:

  • Rigveda

  • Yajurveda

  • Samaveda

  • Atharvaveda

across temples and religious institutions to promote daily Vedic chanting and Lokakshema (universal welfare). 

5. Green Energy Push in Tirumala

The Board also approved several sustainability initiatives.

These include:

  • Installation of an 800 KW wind turbine generator

  • Long-term renewable power arrangements

  • Strengthening Tirumala's green energy infrastructure

This aligns with TTD's ongoing efforts to make Tirumala a more environmentally sustainable pilgrimage destination.  

6. Entry Fee Introduced for Sri Venkateswara Museum

TTD approved a nominal entry fee for visitors aged above 12 years visiting the Sri Venkateswara Museum in Tirumala.

  • ₹50 (Inclusive of GST)

The Board also discussed modernizing museum management.

The Board also approved:

  • Strengthening Kumaradhara and Pasupudhara dam infrastructure.

  • Construction works at Sri Tatayyagunta Gangamma Temple in Tirupati.

  • Infrastructure improvements at Sri Kodandarama Swamy Temple in Vontimitta.

  • Additional pilgrim development projects at various TTD temples.
